In the Summer of 2014 [a traumatic and challenging time my life] I was having a brief moment to myself in the garden when a feeling of serenity descended upon me and a clear voice from inside said, ‘You must train as a play therapist’. I can only describe it as an epiphany - I trusted the voice and followed the instruction with a passion and in doing so a whole new world was opened to me and my life was transformed.
Part of that transformation occurred through deep experiential moments of connection with sand in a tray. As I placed my hands in the sand, carefree childhood memories of times at the beach came flooding back. Add in symbols (and water) and my inner world and lifetime of story was able to unfold before me. I felt for myself (and have since witnessed in others) how powerful this connection with sand, symbols and story can be and, in time, this led me to Lara Kasza.
I knew I had found a home, first completing the SandStory Skills® Trainer course in 2020, followed by SandStory Therapy® training in 2021 and the SandStory Therapy® Trainer course in 2022.
As a trainer I am able to combine my passion for SandStory® and my experience as a teacher and a therapist with my vocation to nurture ‘children’ of all ages. My 94 year old Great Aunt used to talk of a second childhood and would say, ‘We’re all children at heart’.
